What is Cook for the Cure / How does it work?

Cook for the Cure is a national fundraising program that supports the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  It’s an opportunity to turn entertaining into fundraising!  The next time you host a get-together, make it a Cook for the Cure party and invite your guests to make a donation in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  Any party you host, big or small, makes a difference.

Is this a product demonstration? Do I have to sell anything at my party?

No. Cook for the Cure is about raising funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. There is nothing to demonstrate or sell to your guests – it is about planning a ‘party’ and asking your guests to make a donation to the Foundation.

Do I need to purchase KitchenAid® pink products in order to host a party?

No. You do not need to purchase any of the KitchenAid® products in order to register and host a KitchenAid® Cook for the Cure party. Anyone and everyone can register to host a party!

If you are interested in KitchenAid® products, we encourage you to check out the KitchenAid® Pink Collection on line or at a local retailer.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each KitchenAid® pink product support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Do I have to have a theme party?

Not at all. While many party hosts do have fun creating special themes, your party can be as simple as a casual gathering of friends. Check out some great party ideas here.

Do I have to raise a certain amount of money to participate?

No.  Cook for the Cure parties can be any size and raise any amount of money. All donations are all welcomed and appreciated.  You know your friends, so if asked, you can identify an amount – or a range – for your guests to consider.

Remember - For every Cook for the Cure party that is held, KitchenAid® Canada will donate $50 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Where does the money go?

100% of donations raised through Cook for the Cure go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

TOP ↑

What if I’m uncomfortable asking friends for money?

We want hosts and their guests to donate whatever amount they feel comfortable giving. Any donation is welcome and will be kept confidential. Click here for tips on discussing donations with your party guests.

How do guests make their donation?

Guests can make a donation in person at the party using pre-addressed envelopes that can be provided, by visiting Make a Donation where they can search for your party, or by calling 1-800-387-9816 to speak directly with Foundation staff.

How will party guests get tax receipts?

Guests are asked to complete a confidential donation form along with their donation. For online donations, electronic tax receipts are sent by e-mail directly following the donation.  For any mailed in donations, receipts are sent by email if an email address is provided. If no email address is provided the receipt will be sent by regular mail within a few weeks.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation automatically issues tax receipts for donations of $20 or more. Guests can request a tax receipt for donations under $20 when making a donation.

Click here to download a copy of the donation form, or call us at 1-800-387-9816 ext. 325 to request donation cards.

What should I say in my invitation?

We recommend that you include the date, time, location, occasion, and possible theme.  It’s also a good idea to mention the important cause you are supporting!

Will I get a tax receipt for purchasing a Limited Edition Pink KitchenAid® Artisan® Stand Mixer or other KitchenAid® Pink Products?

You will not receive a tax receipt with the purchase of these products.  These transactions, for the most part, take place through an independent retailer. It is not within the Canadian Revenue Agency guidelines to issue a tax receipt for a portion of goods purchased.  However, for every purchase of a KitchenAid® pink small appliance or gadget, a contribution is remitted by KitchenAid® Canada to the Foundation. As an example, purchase a Limited Edition Pink KitchenAid® Artisan® Stand Mixer, and KitchenAid® Canada will donate $75 directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Do I get a discount on KitchenAid® products by hosting a party?

No. KitchenAid® Cook for the Cure is an unprecedented grassroots-based fundraising initiative that invites Canadians to help support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by hosting parties for friends and family and asking their guests to make a donation.

KitchenAid® Canada supports your enthusiasm by donating an additional $50 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for every Cook for the Cure party held.*

*Applicable to Canadian residents only.
KitchenAid® Canada will contribute a minimum of $25,000 per year to support this program.

Can I get a receipt for the money I spend organizing my party?
